Cleveland Family Sues Housing Authority Officer for Fatally Shooting 19-Year-Old
The family of Arthur Keith has sued the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority police officer who fatally shot the 19-year-old in 2020.
Keith’s mother, Rita Keith, filed the wrongful-death suit in federal court in Cleveland on Friday against CMHA officer James Griffiths.
Griffiths shot the younger Keith on Nov. 13, 2020, after he arrived to investigate a tip that a suspect in an armed robbery was sitting in a van at the King Kennedy apartment complex. CMHA police did not wear body cameras at the time, and a surveillance camera that could have captured what happened was broken at the time.
