EEOC Files Lawsuit Against University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston for Alleged Pay Discrimination

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has announced it has filed a lawsuit against the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. The federal agency alleges the university health system paid a female employee lower than her male counterpart, even though they performed “substantially” the same work, because of her sex.
According to the complaint filed in Texas Southern U.S. District Court, the EEOC alleges that UTMB had paid Maria Alza less than her colleague, Henry Dominguez, even though both held the same job title and responsibilities: solutions architect. The alleged discrimination started October 2023 until January 2026.
