Family of Man Shot and Killed by Waterloo Police Officer Reaches $3M Settlement With the City

The family of Brent Boggess has reached a $3 million settlement with the city of Waterloo, five years after a Waterloo police officer shot and killed him.
A Waterloo police officer shot and killed Boggess after a chase in 2021. The county attorney said the officer was justified. Boggess’ family sued and lost in court. The state Supreme Court later reversed that decision, leading to the settlement.
