Louisiana Commercial Fishers, Guides, and Seafood Processors Sue Venture Global Alleging Terminals are Hurting Seafood Industry

A group of commercial fishers, fishing guides and seafood processors in southwest Louisiana is suing liquefied natural gas company Venture Global, claiming that dredging operations in preparation for the construction of a new terminal resulted in a sediment spill that killed millions of oysters and diminished catches of finfish, crabs and shrimp.

Venture Global, which already operates a nearly $10 billion LNG export terminal in Cameron Parish, is currently constructing a second, $30 billion terminal there. As part of the project, the company is enlarging a channel near Calcasieu Lake to allow tankers to access the planned terminal, called CP2.
