Two D.C. Landlords to Pay $9.3M Over Alleged Conspiracy to Inflate Rental Prices for District Tenants

The D.C. attorney general announced Monday that two landlords will pay over $9 million as part of a settlement agreement after they allegedly conspired with other landlords to inflate rental prices for District tenants.

D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb said the settlement is to resolve an antitrust lawsuit where JBG Associates LLC (JBG Smith) and Mid-America Apartments will pay $9.3 million after illegally conspiring with other landlords to increase rent prices for thousands of D.C. apartment units using RealPage Inc.’s pricing software.
