Man Arrested After Allegedly Slashing a Pregnant Woman’s Throat
A man accused of slitting his pregnant ex-girlfriend’s throat outside of a Clinton Township police station earlier this month was found and arrested in West Virginia Saturday.
The 34-year-old woman was attacked Oct. 9. She was going to file a domestic report at the police station against her ex when the 45-year-old man, Kevin Lee Vanaelst, allegedly approached her in the parking lot with a box cutter. He then slashed her throat and fled the scene, according to authorities.
The woman was rushed to a local hospital, where she received stitches and later was released. The woman is 22 weeks pregnant, police said.
The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office authorized a charge of assault with intent to murder Oct. 13 against Vanaelst.
