Ex-Deputy Pleads Guilty to Faking Roadside Attack
A former Fauquier sheriff’s deputy will spend no time in jail on a misdemeanor charge that he had lied when telling investigators that an object thrown from a black SUV struck his head and knocked him out.
After a brief hearing Monday morning in Fauquier General District Court, Judge J. Gregory Ashwell sentenced Jake Preston Dooley of Marshall to 30 days behind bars on one count of making a false report of a crime to police but suspended all of that time.
The crime carries a penalty of up to 12 months in jail and a $2,500 fine.
