Residents of Wichita, Kansas Sue Union Pacific Over Toxic Material Contamination
Residents near a contaminated groundwater site in north Wichita filed a class-action lawsuit this week alleging Union Pacific of exposing them to toxic materials.
The lawsuit filed in Sedgwick County federal court alleges that Union Pacific hid the presence of the contaminants and their release, leaching and migrating from the 29th and Grove Environmental Site to a large portion of a historically Black Wichita neighborhood.
Chris Nidel, one of the lawyers representing the two plaintiffs in this lawsuit said, “we take our job representing communities like the community here in Wichita very seriously. We are working hard to represent the rights of those people that have been impacted by this contamination.”
