Woman Awarded $1.5 Million After Being Attacked by a Rottweiler

Attorney David Baez remembers his client, recovering in Evanston Hospital from emergency surgery after a dog attack, telling him, “I thought this was the end.”

Baez, a name partner at the Chicago law firm of Willens & Baez, said the woman eventually agreed to settle the case for $1.5 million, an amount he said was the largest award by jury or settlement for a dog bite in Illinois.

“This is not about the dog,” Baez said. “It’s about ownership, responsibility and accountability. And now my client can truly begin the process of trying to put this horrible experience behind her.”
