Under Armour Reaches $67.5M Settlement with UCLA Over Abandoned Technical Partnership
Baltimore-based sportswear brand Under Armour and the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) have reached a settlement with regard to their abandoned technical partnership.
According to ESPN, the agreement will see the brand pay US$67.5 million to the outgoing Pac-12 member for walking away from the deal in 2020 amid the pandemic-enforced college sports shutdown.
In a statement shared with ESPN, Mary Osako, UCLA’s vice chancellor of strategic communications, confirmed the legal deal: ‘UCLA is one of the most recognised and respected collegiate names around the globe.
‘We are gratified to have resolved this matter in a way that benefits our student-athletes and the entire Bruin community.’
