Columbus, OH Police Deputy Chief Files Lawsuit for Claims of Gender Discrimination

Columbus police deputy chief Jennifer Knight is at odds with the city and the department she’s served for years. Knight has filed a lawsuit naming the city, Chief Elaine Bryant, Assistant Chief LaShanna Potts, and mayor Andrew Ginther as defendants in the case.

The lawsuit claims attempts by department leadership to try to force her to resign or justify her termination from the force. The ABC 6 investigative team has been following the internal struggle since last year.

At the time, Knight was told to stay home, relieved from assignment days after she missed an appointment for a random drug and alcohol screening. She was eventually reinstated.
