An Autistic Woman Sues a NC Company Over Her Firing

An autistic woman who worked for a North Carolina company has filed a lawsuit over her firing, saying the company never helped her understand what the firm meant when it flagged her for “unprofessional” communication.

In a lawsuit filed Dec. 27 in the Eastern District of North Carolina, the unidentified woman said CastleBranch Inc.’s decision to fire her violated the Americans with Disabilities Act, which bars discrimination based on disability at all levels of public life, The Charlotte Observer reported.

CastleBranch is a compliance management and screening company based in Wilmington. Neither a company representative nor an attorney for the woman responded to the newspaper’s request for comment.
