New Mexico DOJ Requests Judge Dismiss Trump Immigration Safety Act Lawsuit

The New Mexico Department of Justice is fighting to have a Trump administration lawsuit dismissed. The New Mexico legislature passed a law this year prohibiting state and local governments from helping federal agencies with immigration violations.

Attorney General Raúl Torrez is asking a judge to dismiss the federal government’s lawsuit. Torrez and his administration argue that new Mexican leaders have the right to dictate how state resources are used.
