Veteran’s Widow Awarded $1.3 Million in Medical Malpractice Lawsuit

A woman from Buxton has been awarded $1.3 million by a U.S. District Court judge after bringing a medical malpractice lawsuit against the federal government on behalf of her late husband. 

Roy Palmer, a 69-year-old veteran, reported experiencing stomach pain in early April 2020. 

Janet Palmer, his wife, dropped him off at Togus VA Medical Center for care, where he was given extremely high doses of opioid painkillers along with a conflicting sedative over the course of three days, according to court documents.
