AstraZeneca Settles Claims of Race and Gender Pay Discrimination
AstraZeneca will pay $560,000 in back pay and interest to 318 employees after a federal agency discovered alleged race and gender-based pay discrimination at the pharmaceutical company.
A routine compliance investigation conducted by the U.S. Department of Labor discovered the issue. From Oct. 1, 2015, to Sept. 30, 2016, AstraZeneca paid 23 Hispanic female employees and 295 female employees a base salary less than similarly situated employees, according to the department.
The 23 Hispanic female employees held primary care sales representative level 3 positions, and the 295 female employees held specialty care sales representative level 4 positions.
