Disney Is Building Residential Communities
Disney on Wednesday announced plans for its latest business venture: Disney-branded, master-planned communities for residential living infused with the company’s “special brand of magic.”
The new business, dubbed “Storyliving by Disney,” will construct a series of neighborhoods in the U.S. designed by Disney’s research and development team, known as Imagineers, in collaboration with third-party developers and homebuilders.
In addition to offering residential homes and condominiums for purchase, the communities will also include a range of shopping, dining, entertainment and leisure activities. Disney employees, referred to as “cast members,” will operate the community association and handle day-to-day operations.
