An Illinois Lawsuit Over the Death of an Inmate Is Partially Settled For $9 Million

An attorney for a man who died in the Macon County Jail in 2015 said his client has reached a record settlement with the jail.

Michael Carter, 35, died in the jail in July of 2015 after complications involving his diabetes.

He had been in jail awaiting federal court on drug and weapons charges.
