Judge Denies Extension of $600 Million East Palestine Train Derailment Settlement Decision

A motion filed in federal court asking for more time for residents to decide if they want to accept their share of a $600 million class action settlement in connection to the February 2023 train derailment in East Palestine has been denied.

The ruling was entered Tuesday in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

Judge Benita Pearson wrote that the settlement agreement was well publicized with residents having sufficient time to review it.
