A $2.6 Million Biometric Privacy Settlement Between Top Golf And Its Employees Receives Approval

A $2.6 million biometric privacy settlement between Top Golf USA Inc. and its employees received final approval by an Illinois federal judge.

The settlement is fair, reasonable, adequate, and in the best interest of settlement class members, Judge Edmond E. Chang wrote in a final approval order filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

The final approval comes after Chang preliminarily approved the settlement in June. It resolves allegations that Topgolf violated the Biometric Information Privacy Act by collecting employees’ fingerprints without their written consent.
