Berkshire Hathaway Completes Acquisition of Taylor Morrison

Berkshire Hathaway completed its acquisition of Taylor Morrison on Friday, closing a deal that hands the conglomerate a major homebuilder without a stated plan to link it to its insurance operations – despite the fact that Berkshire is simultaneously one of the largest P&C insurers and reinsurers in the world and Taylor Morrison brings an in-house homeowners’ insurance arm into the fold. Berkshire paid $72.50 per common share in cash, valuing the homebuilder at about $6.8 billion in equity and $8.5 billion on an enterprise-value basis.
