Washington State to Pay $80M Settlement to Two Siblings Who Suffered Life-Altering Injuries While in the Care of Their Biological Parents

The state of Washington has agreed to pay an $80 million settlement to two Lakewood siblings who suffered life-altering injuries while in the care of their biological parents.
Attorneys for the children, Leo “Bubby” Strode and Matilda Strode, state the children suffered life-altering harm after being left in the care of their biological parents by caseworkers with the Department of Children, Youth and families (DCYF), Washington state’s child welfare agency.
