Nike Found Liable in Sex Discrimination Lawsuit by Former Employee

After a six-day trial and over a day of deliberation, a Portland jury found Nike liable in a sex discrimination lawsuit brought by former employee Heather Hender.

The jury, made up of seven men and one woman, ruled in Hender’s favor on all counts. Jurors determined that Nike should pay at least $7.5 million in punitive damages, as well as $19,740 in backpay on account of Nike “willfully” violating the Federal Equal Pay Act.
